If you live in India, are between the ages of 8 to 13 and are interested in Beyblade, then you were probably at The Select Citywalk this weekend, between 17-19 August, to witness the Beyblade Burst National championship.

Yes, there is a thing like a Beyblade Championship IRL.

Back when I used to belong in the children walk of life, everyday at 5:30 p.m. Me, my brother, my friends and everyone who use to watch Cartoon Network was obsessed with watching the show and collecting Beyblades. I was, in fact, so obsessed that I used beg my mom to buy me a packet of Cheetos just in hope of getting a Beyblade in it, which once I did, became my best and favourite one that I owned.

Those were the days man…

But, back then, there was nothing like this championship happening. All we could do was play with our Beyblade in our backyards and imagine we were in the battle arenas, feeling like Tyson and his friends, with people cheering for us and just being in that moment and feeding that enjoyment.

For the kids today, our imagination is something that is happening in their reality.

Little fun fact : this Beyblade Championship is not just a National Event but an International one. Yes, children all around the world take part in this championship.

This championship includes 3 types of tournaments:

-Casual Tournament,

-Qualifying National Championship, and

-World Championship.

In the local National Championship, Bladers ages 8-13 compete for a chance to be invited to represent their country at the BEYBLADE BURST World Championship to be held on November 3, 2018 at KidExpo in Paris, France. Winners from each country will face off at the BEYBLADE BURST World Championship, with one victor ultimately claiming glory and being crowned the BEYBLADE BURST World Champion.

And on 19 August, 2018 at the Select Citywalk, Delhi, India found its representative for the BEYBLADE BURST CHAMPIONSHIP:- Vivan Vaidya from Mumbai.

Now let’s cheer for our National Champion and hope he returns back as the International Beyblade Champion.
