So lets begin with the list:
YURI ON ICE
If you haven't heard about this anime, you must've not had good wifi in 2016 or maybe you were actually living under a rock back then. Apologies. But, this anime pretty much broke the internet back in 2016. It is an outlook on figure skating. We follow Yuri Katsuki, as he learns to get over his anxiety over completing with the help of the best skater in the world and his childhood idol, Victor Nikiforov.

CHIHAYAFURU
This anime is a beautiful combination that brings the world of competitive karuta, which is an actual sport played in Japan. This is a mildly old anime as it combines two things that usually won't go together : sports and poetry.

PRINCE OF STRIDE
This anime is based around the fictional extreme sport, "stride", which is akin to the real-life sport of parkour. The game is simple. There are two teams of six, running a relay across a course, avoiding obstacles and staying on track.

MARCH COMES IN LIKE A LION
This is not your typical sports anime, or even you typical anime, I would rather describe it as reading a book. It redefines the brutal and solemn world of shogi as we follow the story of Kiriyama, a high-school shogi genius.

Some honourable mentions:
Free!
Haikyuu
Kuroko No Basket
Days
Prince of Diamond
